Introduction
Forest Training School at Chail was set up in the year 1968 and that at Sundernagar was established in the year 1993. The aim was to impart intensive practical training in Forestry to in-service Forest Guards and Deputy Rangers, to provide specialized trainings in forestry and allied spheres, to upgrade and enhance professional skills of forestry staff to be able to effectively carryout their multifarious functions. With the introduction of Participatory Forest Management in the State, the mandate of both the schools have been enlarged to cater to the training needs of Communities also in Participatory Forest Management. Objectives
All courses have been prepared by a panel of eminent experts. All courses lay stress on practical aspects of the subject. The training is imparted through interactive class room sessions, group discussions, assignments, project work and field visits. Special care is taken to incorporate latest advancement in teaching methods in the classrooms as well as field. Specially designed Need Based Training courses to cater to special training needs of organisations and departments within HP or out side can be undertaken on request. Course Fee
Applications for nomination to various courses can be made on plain paper, mentioning the names of the course/s and particulars of the nominees. The applications alongwith prescribed course fee be sent through a bank draft payable to the Divisional Forest officer Forest Training School Chail, District Solan or Sundernagar District Mandi as the case may be. All applications must be received atleast, 15 days before the date of commencement of the course at the concerned Forest Training School. All courses are residential.
